Sir Tim Hunt (born Richard Timothy Hunt on February 19, 1943, in Neston, Cheshire, England) is an English biochemist who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2001. He shared this prestigious award with his fellow countryman Sir Paul Nurse and American scientist Leland Hartwell for their discovery of proteins that regulate cell division. Hunt's work has significantly contributed to our understanding of cell biology and the mechanisms underlying cell cycle regulation.
