Tim N. Gidal was a German-American-Israeli photographer, photojournalist, and university educator, born on May 18, 1909, in Munich and died on October 4, 1996, in Jerusalem. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of modern photojournalism. In Germany, he represented modern photojournalism from 1900 to 1920, alongside notable figures such as Erich Salomon, Martin Munkácsi, Wolfgang Weber, Alfred Eisenstaedt, and Felix H. Man.
