Þorsteinn Thorarensen (August 26, 1927 – October 26, 2006) was an Icelandic journalist, book publisher, and translator. He founded the publishing company Fjölva in 1966, known for initiating the systematic publication of comic books in Icelandic with the release of the first book in the series Adventure Tales in 1971. An accomplished translator, Þorsteinn's translations were noted for their strong authorial characteristics, especially the humor in the Ástríkur books, which some claimed were funnier in Icelandic than in the original language.
