Thor Støre (1924–2001) was a Norwegian politician associated with the Liberal Party. He served as a deputy representative to the Norwegian Parliament from Oslo during the term of 1969 to 1973. Støre was also known for being a chess columnist for the newspaper Dagbladet, where he sparked controversy in 1986 with remarks made about the 1936 unofficial Chess Olympiad. His column led to his dismissal, highlighting the sensitive intersection of politics and sports in Norway during the era.
