Thomas Graeme Gibson was a Canadian army officer born on April 6, 1908, who commanded several Canadian brigades during World War II. At the age of 35, he became the youngest brigadier general in the Canadian Army. From February to June 1945, he led the 7th Canadian Infantry Brigade, which participated in the liberation of Eastern and Northern Netherlands. His brigade liberated the city of Deventer on April 10, 1945. Later that month, he was appointed the first honorary citizen of Deventer.
