Thomas Bernhard Edlund is a Swedish professor emeritus in molecular genetics at Umeå University. He completed his doctorate in 1980 with a dissertation on the connection between mechanisms of penicillin resistance and DNA replication in Escherichia coli. In 1988, he was appointed as a professor in molecular genetics at Umeå University. Edlund co-authored a research article published in Nature in 1994 regarding Insulin-promotor-factor 1 (IPF-1), which has been cited approximately 2,000 times as of 2021. He co-founded the biotech company Betagenon in 2001.
