He was associated with the Eielson Air Force Base during the murders and eluded suspicion for a significant time. Despite confessing to the murders, he evaded immediate arrest due to a legal error and remained free for eight days until his death in a motorcycle accident, which occurred without any attempt on his part to escape justice.
