Knud Thøger Birkeland (1922-2011) was a Danish author primarily known for his children's books. He wrote notable works such as 'Saftevandsmordet' and the stories about Krummerne. Throughout his career, he received several prestigious awards, including the Culture Ministry's Children's Book Prize in 1962 and the School Librarians Association's Children's Book Prize in 1980. He also won the Children's Book Prize from the Booksellers' Assistant Association in 1981 and, alongside Bjarne Reuter, the Municipal School Library Association's Author Prize in 1983.
