He is a co-founder of the Studio Glass movement and began creating artistically designed glass objects in 1974 using the lampworking technique, which involves crafting over an open flame. In the 1980s, he combined this technique with work at a furnace, leading to a patented process in 1988. Sellner is recognized for his innovative contributions to the field of glass art.
