Thelma Childress, later known as Pedin and then Kinney, was a player in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, born on October 9, 1926, in Richmond, Virginia. She played for the Grand Rapids Chicks during the 1946 season. The AAGPBL ceased operations in 1954, but a permanent display honoring the league was established at the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in 1988. Childress survived her son, who passed away in March 2019, and she died shortly after, on October 18, 2019, just before turning 94.
