Teruto 'Terry' Tsubota was a Nisei American, born on July 28, 1922, in Pahoa, Hawaii. He served as a U.S. Marine and was instrumental in saving hundreds of civilian lives during the Battle of Okinawa as a Military Intelligence Service translator. Post-war, he relocated to Okinawa, married Kiyoko, raised three children, and earned recognition for his actions during the conflict. Tsubota's story highlighted the role of Japanese Americans in military service, and he passed away in Lihue, Hawaii, on May 22, 2013, at the age of 90.
