Terry Marvell Whitmore (1947–2007) was an American soldier, deserter, and actor. He was a Black Marine who deserted during the Vietnam War and documented his experiences in 'Memphis-Nam-Sweden: The Autobiography of a Black American Exile.' This work, first published in 1971 and republished in 1997, is one of the few memoirs of the war by a Black author, contributing significantly to Viet Nam War literature and African American autobiography. He also appeared in two documentaries about GI resistance and four Swedish films during his exile.
