Terence Gavaghan (1922–2011) was a British colonial administrator known for his role during the Mau Mau insurrection in the 1950s in Kenya. As a district officer, he oversaw six detention centres in Mwea, where he was implicated in the use of violence against detainees. He was one of the officers associated with the 'dilution technique', a method reportedly used to extract confessions and enforce labor, leading to severe mistreatment of Kenyans. His legacy is controversial due to the allegations of brutality against him.
