Ted Turner, born Robert Edward Turner III on November 19, 1938, is an American entrepreneur, television producer, media owner, and philanthropist. He founded CNN, the first 24-hour news channel, and WTBS, which pioneered the superstation concept. Turner has made significant philanthropic contributions, including a $1 billion donation to create the United Nations Foundation. He also co-founded the Nuclear Threat Initiative to reduce global reliance on nuclear weapons. A prominent figure in media, he transformed broadcasting with CNN and helped revitalize Major League Baseball's Atlanta Braves, winning the 1995 World Series.
