Theodore Fred Grefe was an American football player born on October 26, 1917, in Des Moines, Iowa. He played college football at Northwestern and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Grefe played as a defensive end in the NFL for the Detroit Lions, participating in two games during the 1945 season. After retiring from football, he lived in Des Moines and later Fairfax, Virginia. Grefe passed away on October 27, 1989, while returning from a hunting trip. He was survived by his wife June and three children.
