He studied at Keio University, completing his undergraduate degree in 1958 and later pursuing graduate studies. Iguchi had a notable academic career, becoming an assistant lecturer at Sophia University in 1966, then progressing to associate professor and, eventually, a professor at Keio University. He earned his doctorate in literature in 1991 for his research on boundary arts and traditions. He retired in 2000 after a distinguished career in academia.
