He held various jobs, including doing odd jobs at the Ashio Copper Mine and as a worker at a fish market. He joined the Japanese Communist Party in 1947 and made his literary debut with 'Haitei Tokihito-ki.' He won the Mainichi Publishing Culture Award for his work 'Chichibu Konminto' serialized in 'Shin Nihon Bungaku.' He was involved in realism studies and later participated in founding the Japanese Democratic Literature Alliance.
