Tamio Hayashi is a Japanese organic chemist born on February 16, 1948. He specializes in organometallic chemistry and organic synthesis. He earned a Doctor of Engineering degree from Kyoto University in 1975 and is a professor at the National University of Singapore, as well as an emeritus professor at Kyoto University. During his student years, he studied under Makoto Kumada and has focused on the development of transition metal complex catalyst reactions, particularly in high stereoselectivity asymmetric synthesis using chiral transition metal complex catalysts.
