Takashi Araki was a Japanese writer born on October 6, 1905, in Asakusa, Tokyo. His real name was Kiyotaka Shimomura. He graduated from Tokyo Imperial University's Chinese Literature department. In 1933, his work 'That One Thing' won a prize in the magazine 'Kaizo'. The same year, he co-founded the literary magazine 'Nichiratsu' with others including Jun Takami. In 1936, he participated in launching the 'People's Library' under Rintaro Takeda. He also used the pen name Kyosuke Shimomura. Araki passed away on June 4, 1950.
