Taiji Wakasegawa was a Japanese sumo wrestler born on February 20, 1920. He began his professional career in 1935 and ascended to the top makuuchi division by 1942. His highest rank was komusubi and he was noted for being a two-time runner-up in tournaments. Throughout his career, he earned seven gold stars for defeating yokozuna. After retiring in 1959, he became a coach at the Isegahama stable and continued to contribute to the Japan Sumo Association until mandatory retirement in 1985.
