Tahir Alangu was a Turkish writer and literary historian born in Istanbul in 1915. He completed his education at Kabataş High School and graduated from Istanbul University in 1943. From 1946 to 1973, he worked as a literature teacher across Anatolia and taught Turkish language courses at Galatasaray High School and Robert College. Alangu contributed extensively to Turkish literature through poetry, criticism, and articles published in various journals. He was also involved in folklore studies and advocated for a contemporary approach to folklore based on traditional foundations. He passed away on June 19, 1973.
