Taezō Suwa (1911-1992) was a notable Japanese mountaineer born in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. After graduating in metallurgy from Kogakuin University in 1928, he began climbing under the guidance of Kazuo Nishioka. Suwa became a leading figure in the study of the Himalayas in Japan, collaborating with prominent climbers such as Ichirō Yoshizawa and Tatsuō Mochizuki. He authored several works on mountaineering and contributed to translations of mountaineering literature.
