Known by the pen name Nanzan, he held significant cultural roles, including advisor to the Chido Museum and chairman of the Cultural Heritage Protection Council in Tsuruoka. Additionally, he was the head of a branch of the Sakai family and an advisor to the Tsuruoka Calligraphy Association, contributing to the promotion and preservation of Japanese calligraphy and culture.
