Svein Ove Alvestad is a Norwegian fish farmer and politician representing the Conservative Party (H). He served as the mayor of Bokn from 1999 to 2007. Alvestad was elected in a direct mayoral election in 1999, narrowly defeating the Labour Party candidate by 7 votes. In the 2003 election, he received 75 percent of the votes. He was also a member of Rogaland County Council from 1999 to 2003. According to Stavanger Aftenblad, Alvestad had the highest wealth among mayors in Rogaland in 2006.
