Süreyya Berfe, born Hikmet Süreyya Kanıpak on January 27, 1943, in Istanbul, was a Turkish poet and writer. She initially used her birth name until 1965, after which she adopted the surname Berfe suggested by Cemal Süreya. While she started within the Second New movement, she later explored other avenues influenced by folk poetry. Recognized as part of the 1960 generation of poets, Berfe also authored children's books and received various awards, including a major poetry prize in 1966.
