Surendra Kumar Saxena, born on October 4, 1936, is an Indian geochemist known for his theoretical contributions in thermodynamic calculations within geochemistry. He obtained his doctorate in 1967 from Uppsala University and became an associate professor at Brooklyn College in 1973, later serving as a professor there from 1976 to 1996. Saxena was also a professor at Uppsala University from 1989 to 2001 and served as the head of the Center for Study of Matter at Extreme Conditions at Florida International University from 1999. He was elected a foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 1996.
