Sung Chi-li, born Sung Kan-lin on September 17, 1948, is a controversial cult leader and geomancer from Taiwan. He founded the Sung Chi-li Miracle Association and the Great Sun Sect, gaining notoriety after being accused of defrauding his followers out of $7 million in a 1996 scandal. Although he was convicted of fraud in 1997 and sentenced to seven years in prison, the high court overturned his conviction in 2003, citing Taiwan's constitutional protection of freedom of religion. Sung claims to possess supernatural abilities, including divine healing and body-double manifestations.
