He served as chair of the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) from 2016 to 2018 and was a board member until 2020. He has held various significant positions including on the board of Transport for London and as director of the RAC Foundation. Glaister is a fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and has been a key advisor in the field of transport policy since the late 1970s.
