His first World Cup appearance was in December 2001, where he achieved 26th place. Münchmeyer had notable successes in the B World Cup, including winning several competitions and finishing first in the overall standings of the 2004/05 season. His best World Cup result was 16th place in January 2002. He retired from competitive skiing in 2006.
