Steinar Hovi was a Norwegian businessman and founder of Beitostølen Resort. Born on a farm in Rogne in 1939, he worked as a ski instructor in Austria and Scotland. In 1965, he established the first ski school in Beitostølen, which led to the creation of Beitostølen Resort AS. He expanded his business by building rental cabins and eventually purchasing the Bergo hotel to reopen his sports store. Hovi was honored in 2009 with the King's Medal of Merit in gold for his contributions to the community.
