Stefka Kostadinova is a former Bulgarian high jumper who holds the world record for women's high jump at 2.09 meters, set on August 30, 1987, in Rome. She won many accolades during her career, including winning gold at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Unfortunately, her career was marred by injury, and she retired after two surgeries in 1997 due to a calf injury. She later became the president of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee on November 11, 2005.
