William Tyler, known as 'Steel Arm', was a prominent American pitcher in the Negro leagues, playing from 1925 to 1930. Born in Evansville, Indiana, he made his debut with the Memphis Red Sox. Throughout his career, he also played for teams like the Chicago American Giants and the Kansas City Monarchs. Tyler returned to Memphis for two seasons before concluding his career with the Detroit Stars. He passed away at the age of 64.
