Stanley de Alwis was a notable cricketer from Ceylon, active in first-class cricket from 1958 to 1960. As an opening bowler, he made an impressive debut, taking 4 wickets for 20 runs. Sadly, he retired from sport at the young age of 25 due to hepatitis. After his cricket career, he worked with the Prisons Department and later with the People's Bank. He passed away in Colombo in September 2019. He was married and had two daughters, though his wife predeceased him by approximately 20 years.
