He emigrated to Ireland in 1924 where he worked as an organist, conductor, and carillonneur at St Colman's Cathedral. He received various accolades for his contributions to church music and was honored as an honorary citizen in Washington, D.C. His influence in Irish music continues to be recognized through awards in his name.
