Peter Wetzel, known by his stage name Spidi, was a Swiss clown and a well-known figure at Circus Knie. He gained fame for his cheerful personality and role as a program booklet seller during approximately 8,000 performances. Wetzel had a troubled upbringing, fleeing home as a teenager due to a violent and alcoholic father, and lived underground for six years. He tragically took his own life in July 2018 at the age of 51, remembered by circus colleagues and hundreds of others at a memorial service.
