Sona Muradova (born December 31, 1914, in the current Geok-Tepe district) was a prominent Turkmen Soviet actress honored as a People's Artist of the USSR in 1955. After graduating from the Pedagogical Technical School in Ashgabat in 1931, she began her teaching career. In 1934, she joined the Turkmen Drama Theatre, later serving as its director from 1955 to 1960. Her notable roles include Aknaabat, Bika, Poshlepkina, Jamal, and Emilia in various esteemed plays. Muradova was awarded the State Prize of the USSR in 1951 and the State Prize of the Turkmen SSR in 1968, and she received the Order of the Red Banner of Labour.
