Snooty was a Caribbean manatee born on July 21, 1948, in Miami. He was recognized as the world's longest-living captive manatee by Guinness World Records in 2017. Born to his mother Baby at the Miami Aquarium, Snooty was transferred to the Museum of South Florida in 1949, where he lived until his death. He participated in studies recognizing communication behaviors, even identifying voices of caregivers after decades. Tragically, Snooty drowned two days after his 69th birthday due to an open maintenance access in his living pool.
