Smyshlyayev Yuriy Mikhaylovich (1937–1983) was a Kyrgyz poet and translator, born on April 16, 1937, in the Petrovsk village of the Urum district. He graduated from the M. Gorky Literature Institute in 1959. Smyslyayev began his career as a worker in 1954, becoming an influential figure in Kyrgyz literature. His first published work was the dramatic poem 'U sten Pishpeka' in 1964. Notably, he translated several works of Kyrgyz poetry into Russian, making significant contributions to both languages.
