He was implicated in the Bintaro tragedy on October 19, 1987, which resulted in 139 deaths and around 254 serious injuries, marking it as one of the most horrific train accidents in Indonesian history. The event garnered international attention due to its severity. Suradio maintained his innocence, claiming he had received a signal indicating that the track was safe for train KA 225, and that procedural communications allowed for the trains' movements as they were managed.
