Robert 'Skinnay' Ennis was an American jazz and pop bandleader, singer, and drummer, born on August 13, 1909, in Salisbury, North Carolina. He played as a drummer in Hal Kemp's orchestra until 1938 before becoming a solo singer, leading Gil Evans' orchestra in Hollywood productions. Ennis also contributed to comedy productions and worked on Bob Hope's radio program in the 1940s. His career declined by the late 1950s, leading him to perform in Los Angeles hotels. He died from asphyxiation in a Beverly Hills restaurant on June 3, 1963.
