Sjerp de Vries, born on August 12, 1925, in Terherne, is a Dutch yacht builder, silversmith, and entrepreneur. He moved to Terherne in 1959 and became actively involved in local sailing associations and competitions. De Vries has built hundreds of boats, notably creating a unique polyester design called UFO. He co-founded the 'Stichting De Fryske Boerepream' in 1996. His boat 'Nije Kimen' was awarded 'Boat of the Year 2005.' His family background includes a strong sailing tradition, and he started his career renting boats, which grew into a business.
