Sir Robert MacGowan Chapman, 2nd Baronet, was a British Territorial Army officer born on 12 February 1911. He served prominently in various military and civic roles, including High Sheriff of Durham and Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear. He was educated at Marlborough College and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, where he earned a BA and MA. He participated in World War II, achieving the rank of Major. After the war, he became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and held numerous honors throughout his life, including being appointed CBE in 1961.
