Sir Richard Rathborne Vassar-Smith, 3rd Baronet, was an English educator born in 1909 in India. He was the fourth headmaster of St Ronan's School in Kent, England. Educated at Lancing and Pembroke College, Cambridge, he was also a talented footballer, playing for the Cambridge University Varsity XI and Corinthian Casuals. After joining Lloyds Bank, he was commissioned into the Royal Artillery in 1939. After WWII, he began teaching at St Ronan's, eventually becoming headmaster until 1971, remaining active in school affairs until his death in 1995.
