Siegfried Atzinger was a German naval officer and commander of submarines during World War II, notable for leading the submarine U-48, which was highly effective in terms of sunk tonnage and number of enemy vessels during his command from August 1941 to September 1942, despite not undertaking any combat patrols. From September 1942 to January 1943, he served in the 3rd and 5th U-Boat Flotillas and later in the 25th Training Flotilla until the capitulation in March 1945. Atzinger did not achieve any combat success during his service.
