Shun'ei Tsuboi was a Japanese scholar of Buddhism and a priest of the Jōdo sect. Born on October 2, 1914, in Kyoto Prefecture, he became notable for his extensive writings on the Three Pure Land Sutras. Tsuboi served as both the head of the Jōdo sect and held the title of a great priest. He made significant contributions to the study of Pure Land Buddhism until his death on September 6, 2010.
