Shōichi Ōta (August 23, 1912 - December 7, 1994) was a Japanese navy officer, reaching the rank of lieutenant. He is known as the inventor of the special attack weapon, Kōkha, during World War II. After the war, he attempted to escape and lived in hiding while maintaining his identity secret. He fathered three children during this time. Despite the controversies surrounding his actions, he remains a notable figure in Japan's military history.
