Shneior Lifson (March 18, 1914 - January 22, 2001) was an Israeli physicist and chemist known for his contributions to the field of life sciences. He served as the scientific director of the Weizmann Institute of Science and was a founder of the Open University in Israel. Lifson received the Israel Prize in 1969 for his work on consistent methodology in the field of force field theory, which underpins computational modeling of large molecules. He led a scientific team in 2013 that included future Nobel laureate Michael Levitt.
