He is known for his controversial claim of being the 'inventor of email,' which he bases on the electronic mail software 'EMAIL' he created as a high school student in the late 1970s in New Jersey. His assertion has faced skepticism, as many sources have noted that email was already in use in the early 1970s. Ayyadurai holds four degrees from MIT, including a Ph.D. in biological engineering.
