Shinkō Nakai (May 15, 1943 - May 20, 2024) was a Japanese Jōdo-shū monk and historian. He was a Professor Emeritus and former president of Bukkyō University, as well as the chairman of the Bukkyō Educational Foundation. His areas of expertise included ancient Japanese history and Buddhist history. He served as the head priest of Chōkō-ji temple in Jōdoshu. Nakai was originally from Shiga Prefecture.
