Shin'ichirō Ishiwatari (1926-2017) was a Japanese ancient history researcher from Tokyo. He graduated from the English department of Tokyo Bunrika University (now Tsukuba University) in 1953, and subsequently taught at Tokyo Metropolitan Chitose High School until 1977. Ishiwatari is known for his controversial theories regarding Japanese ancient history, including claims about historical figures such as Prince Shōtoku and various emperors, proposing connections between them and significant events in Japanese history.
